Short films have always had a place in film production and are – in terms
of film history – actually the original form of “motion
pictures”. Particularly in the last few years, there
has been a noticeable increase in the interest in many aspects
of the short film.
In short: the demand for short films has been increasing
from year to year.
The Friedrich Wilhelm Murnau Foundation is making a contribution
to the future of film culture, and hence also promoting
new talent, with its Short Film Award, which it has been
presenting for audience-effective short films especially
suited for cinemas since 1994.
