The Murnau Foundation offers both commercial and academic users an unparalleled service, permitting fast, target-oriented handling of its stock of films.

Fast access to all relevant information is permitted as a result of the computer-aided documentation of all inventoried films and the corresponding materials.
There are time-coded video copies of all full-length films. Thus, it is possible to copy and deliver films and excerpts from films in the required format within hours.

The Murnau Foundation’s Service and Technical Department not only includes a film reference library of the complete stock of films, the foundation also keeps the inventory in a database, which is continuously updated.
These services permit comprehensive enquiries into films, cinematographic data such as staff, cast, genre, but also music titles, artists and design motifs. Hence, work relating to the German film heritage is now considerably easier for academics and experts interested in the matter.

Moreover, an abundance of additional material relating to the films is now available in the foundation’s archives. It is possible to view historical film posters, advertising materials or stills (a large proportion of which have been scanned) for research purposes.
